What is stay-put lighting?

Case Study: CityVerve: Smart Bike Lights for Manchester
Arena: Smart Spaces CampusSpeaker(s): John Davies of BT, Michael Taylor of See.sense Booking required CityVerve is the UK's smart cities demonstrator based in Manchester and a blueprint for smart cities worldwide. In this session John Davies, Chief Researcher at BT presents details of one of around 20 use case demonstrators being developed by CityVerve - a trial involving the use of smart lights attached to bikes involving 200 local cyclists. The smart lights will be used to generate data about cycle usage patterns in Manchester. The City Council and transport authority will analyse the data to drive decisions on the best location for new cycle paths and to intervene in traffic hotspots. This will optimise investment in cycling infrastructure. The end customers are citizens and businesses, who will benefit from better infrastructure and more people cycling, thus reducing congestion and improving air quality.

Additionally, Outdoor LED lighting applications are expanding from street luminaires to architectural and city center lighting, requiring lower correlated color temperature (CCT) performances. In this paper, we introduce the world’s first Ultra-High CRI LED, with all R indices ≥90 and we are covering a possible technical solution to reach CRI up to 100. In this session John Davies, Chief Researcher at BT presents details of one of around 20 use case demonstrators being developed by CityVerve - a trial involving the use of smart lights attached to bikes involving 200 local cyclists. The smart lights will be used to generate data about cycle usage patterns in Manchester. The City Council and transport authority will analyse the data to drive decisions on the best location for new cycle paths and to intervene in traffic hotspots. This will optimise investment in cycling infrastructure. The end customers are citizens and businesses, who will benefit from better infrastructure and more people cycling, thus reducing congestion and improving air quality.

Case Study: CityVerve: Smart Bike Lights for Manchester

In this session John Davies, Chief Researcher at BT presents details of one of around 20 use case demonstrators being developed by CityVerve - a trial involving the use of smart lights attached to bikes involving 200 local cyclists. The smart lights will be used to generate data about cycle usage patterns in Manchester. The City Council and transport authority will analyse the data to drive decisions on the best location for new cycle paths and to intervene in traffic hotspots. This will optimise investment in cycling infrastructure. The end customers are citizens and businesses, who will benefit from better infrastructure and more people cycling, thus reducing congestion and improving air quality.

In this paper, we introduce the world’s first Ultra-High CRI LED, with all R indices ≥90 and we are covering a possible technical solution to reach CRI up to 100.
